Inspiration Surrounds You

Located in the heart of historic Frederick Maryland, The Faux School’s historic brick building was originally constructed in 1829.  With original pressed tin ceilings, large windows with lots of natural light, painted floors, marbled columns and wonderful faux finishes on nearly every surface, the studio brings a hip urban vibe to an area rich with Civil War heritage. Our studio space gives you plenty of room to work and move around, yet you’re close enough to talk and share ideas with your fellow students.

In the Center of It All

The Faux School is within walking distance of hundreds of shops, antique stores, restaurants and bars set in a charming main-street atmosphere. Frederick City is filled with historic architecture, amazing public art, museums and a vibrant performing arts community, all within the downtown area.

A Home Base for Exploration

Venture further into the county and you’ll find scenic byways, wineries, orchards, Civil War sites, sports venues, and magnificent scenery and outdoor recreation.  From Frederick, it’s a short drive to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, or the beautiful horse country of Loudoun County, Virginia. And the myriad attractions of Baltimore and Washington, DC, are less than one hour away.
