Traditional Italian Lime Plaster – Imported from Italy
Bernini Grasello is a traditional Venetian lime plaster imported directly from Italy. Made from aged lime putty and fine marble powders, it produces a smooth, polished finish with the natural depth and appearance of marble.
The lime used in Bernini Grasello is aged for 10 months before production. This aging process improves the lime’s consistency and workability, making the plaster easier to apply and polish.
Grasello is commonly used for traditional Venetian plaster finishes on interior walls, ceilings, columns, and architectural features. Depending on the application technique, it can produce anything from a soft satin sheen to a highly polished, marble-like finish.
Surface Preparation and Application
For best results, we recommend:
- Primer: Bernini Quartz Primer to prepare the surface and improve adhesion.
- Application Tool: Pavan 844/I stainless steel finishing trowel for applying and polishing the plaster.
- Finish: Bernini Beeswax to enhance the sheen, deepen the color, and provide additional surface protection.
A traditional Grasello application typically consists of three thin coats, with the final coat compressed and polished using a stainless steel trowel.

- Coverage: Approximately 175 square feet per gallon, per coat.
- Material Cost: Approximately $0.54 per square foot, per coat.
- Recommended Application: Three coats.
- Estimated Material Cost: $1.62 per square foot for a traditional three-coat application.
