Full description
This is a live, interactive class. You are on Zoom with me, not watching a recording. Questions get answered while the work is happening. The class is capped at six students so I can see what you’re doing and talk you through it. Private classes are available on request.
We work the traditional Venetian plaster technique — the polished lime finish — on a four-by-four panel with baseboard and crown molding. Same details you’d find on a wall, small enough to finish in three hours.
What we cover
Surface preparation. How the panel is primed and why that matters before the first coat goes on.
Tool selection. The trowel that belongs on this finish, how to hold it, and why a cheap blade fights you.
Tool care and maintenance. How to keep the blade clean and true so the finish stays tight.
Color mixing. Tinting the lime so the color is in the plaster, not sitting on top of it.
First coat and second coat. Pressure, timing, and when to leave it alone.
Burnishing. Taking the surface to that glass-like polish.
Top coat. Simple wax. How to put it on, how much, and when to stop.
This is the traditional method. Not a shortcut finish. You watch the panel go from primed substrate to waxed polish, trowel in hand the entire time.
After class, enrolled students get a private replay of that session. No expiration date. The replay is for students who registered — it is not sold separately.

Optional kit: $175 — quart of primer, quart of plaster, pint of wax, and a Pavan trowel. Checklist inside for roller, covers, and mixing tools you buy locally.
How it works
After you register, you receive a confirmation email with the class date and time. The Zoom link is sent the morning of class — not at checkout.
Payment policy
Payment is non-refundable. If you cannot attend, your payment transfers to a future class of your choice. No cash refunds.
